New Creators Met Together in Europe
Overview
In order to promote talented new designers and help launch them to success, Japan Fashion Week in TOKYO (JFW), held from Thu, August 30 to Wed, September 5, will hold an exhibition called "New Designers Met in Europe" at the 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT (inside Tokyo Midtown), a new design center that opened in Tokyo last spring.
One of JFW's keywords is the "incubation" of young designers, and we have been making every effort to support various talented designers that have shown great potential. At the 5th JFW in TOKYO we intend to continue strengthening our support to young talent, while opening this new event as a gateway to success for new designers from both Japan and abroad. Asia is growing to be an increasingly vital part of the world fashion market, with its center at the pop culture Mecca of Tokyo, a budding fashion city that differentiates itself from the more traditional centers of Paris and Milan with the energy of its young designers. JFW in TOKYO strives to provide opportunities to the up-and-coming designers of the world that would like to debut in Tokyo or take on new and exciting business ventures.
The participants of "New Creators Met in Europe" have studied at such world renowned places as England's Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design and the Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts Belgium, becoming acquainted at fashion contests and events in various countries. They have come together for this event in the spirit of doing something exciting together in Tokyo. 6 brands by 11 designers will participate in this event, and although they come from such varied countries as Germany, Israel, Georgia, Taiwan, and Japan, they all share the same passion to transmit their creations from Tokyo to the world. These designers' new creations will be showcased at the 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT (inside Tokyo Midtown), which also provided valuable support for this event.
JFW hopes to host a similar gathering of young designers in Tokyo once each year, to uncover new designers from both at home and overseas and present them to the world.
We invite you and any colleagues, friends, or business associates that may be interested to please come and see this event. We are looking forward to your attendance.
