| After graduating from the Apparel
Design course at Bunka Fashion College in 1987, Maruyama worked as a planner at
a large apparel firm before going freelance in 1990. He debuted his signature
line at the Tokyo Collections in 1994. In 1996, he was awarded the Mainichi Fashion
Award Newcomer Prize and Enco uragement Prize. He made his debut on the Paris
catwalk in 1997 and won the Japan Fashion Editors Club Award in 1998. He launched
the Keita Maruyama kimono collection in 1999 and marked the 10th anni versary
of his label in 2004. |
