After graduating high school,
Ito spent some time in the U.K. before retu rning to Japan to study the history
of economics at Aoyama University, where he started to work on fashion design
is his spare time. Launching soe in the Autum/Winter season of 1998/99 his work
deftly strikes a delicate balance between street and mode, classic and pop sensibilities.
In Japanese, the brand name soe has a double meaning of "originality" and "dress
sense."
