Brand information / About the designer
── What is the brand’s concept? What do you want to communicate through fashion designing?
KANEMASA PHIL. is an original brand launched by KANEMASA KNITTING CO., LTD. a circular knit manufacturer founded in 1964 and based in Wakayama City, Wakayama Prefecture. With proprietary high-gauge knitting machines, jacquard machines capable of expressing intricate patterns, and a unique mastery of these technologies, the company is committed to preserving its craftsmanship for future generations. In pursuit of this goal, it launched its in-house brand, KANEMASA PHIL., in the Spring/Summer 2021 season. The collection is crafted entirely from the company’s own jersey fabrics. Designed for comfort and a relaxed fit, the brand aspires to create garments that define the standards of the future. More than just quality, beauty, or innovation on the surface, we hope our products inspire a deeper appreciation for the stories and craftsmanship behind them.
── What is your source of inspiration in creating fashion? What is your process of developing a design concept?
Drawing inspiration from a wide range of creative fields—including architecture, art, craftsmanship, film, and music—each season is built around a distinct theme. From color palettes to styling, every collection is crafted entirely using our own jersey fabrics.
── Who are your current stockists (areas, retail formats, etc.)? Describe the typical followers of your brand.
In Japan, we have about 50 stores. They are located throughout Japan. Overseas, we have about 10 stores. We have one wholesaler each in North America, Europe, and the United States. The brand is worn by people of all ages, from men and women in their 20s to 50s.










About 2025 A/W collection
── Why have you chosen Tokyo (Rakuten Fashion Week TOKYO) as the venue for presenting your collection?
We participated in this project to try to transmit creativity beyond the framework of a factory brand.
── What is the concept / image for your brand’s 2025 A/W season?
For the 2025 A/W season, we revisit the history of clothing, drawing inspiration from British fashion history, which has had a profound influence on modern dandyism, as well as from the tradition of the Royal Warrant. By extracting key elements such as items, colors, and details, we reinterpret the British traditional style in a modern way using our own jersey fabrics.
Future
── What are your brand’s future outlook and goal?
Moving forward, we aim to bring our products to a wider audience by expanding our directly operated stores in Japan and increasing our wholesale presence overseas.
