Brand information / About the designer

―What inspired you to become a fashion designer? Describe developments leading up to the brand launch.

I joined a company specializing in knitwear after graduating from a fashion school. I left the company after experiencing the positions of designer, MD and sales and established ieri design products where I have produced various knitwear brands for women. I have presented my brands at fashion weeks in Paris and New York and proactively expand business overseas.

―What is the brand’s concept? What do you want to communicate through fashion designing?

“IISER LOEN” is “wardrobe for adults that proposes neo-dandyism with knowledge and taste incorporated into basic aspects.”
DNA of ieri which is a pioneer and innovator in knitwear is incorporated in “IISER LOEN”, and we also collaborate with creators in various fields such as fabric, leather and accessory to create the best products.

―What is your source of inspiration in creating fashion? What is your process of developing a design concept?

There is no seasonal theme. We incorporate our own mood of the season into basic items to create each piece of clothing that is not influenced by trend and can be worn with attachment for a long time.

―Who are your current stockists (areas, retail formats, etc.)? Describe the typical followers of your brand.

On February 27, 2015, directly-operated store “IISER LOEN Tokyo” opened on B2F of the Main Building of Omotesando Hills.
As the background theme of the brand is “collaboration” which elevates creation through stimulation within the team, limited seasonal collection and collaboration with surprises are planned. Since our target meets with the customers of Omotesando Hills, we will grasp the hearts of the customers with our directly-operated store.

―Which brands, designers, styles and cultures have had the most impact on your fashion designing, and why?

My style of fashion was influenced by the DC brand boom in the 80s when I was a teenager. After joining the fashion industry, I became interested in branding and selling method of LVMH, Gucci and Chanel which use business strategies different from those in Japan.

About 2015-16 A/W collection

―Why have you chosen Tokyo (or MBFWT) as the venue for presenting your collection?

Our motive is to clarify the brand position by participating in the Fashion Week which is an official fashion show in Japan. Since our brand is expected to get a lot of media exposure, we aim to proactively launch the brand in Japan as well as overseas.

―What is the concept / image for your brand’s 2015-16 A/W season?

We do not have any comments on this as we want those who saw the show to freely feel in their own way.

―What is your vision for your show / installation?

We have an image of the night view in Tokyo, but we have yet to plan the composition and choreography of the show.

Future

―What are your brand’s future outlook and goal?

We want to clarify the brand position by participating in MBFWT 2015-16 A/W. Our goal is to proactively launch the brand in Japan as well as overseas.

About TOKYO

―What does Tokyo represent for you?

The city has good infrastructure and there is public order. Intelligence level of each person is high and the city has the power to create various culture, business and fashion.

―Which parts / sites of Tokyo do you like most? Why?

Azabu, Aoyama, Roppongi, and Daikanyama.
In such areas, I have many friends who I can share culture, knowledge and sophistication with and something new can be created with the people I meet.

―What are your favorite / recommended shops (of any genres, e.g. fashion stores, homeware stores, food services), facilities and sites?

I like Maduro, a bar at Grand Hyatt, since it has high customer quality and hospitality and I can relax there. Since I have a child, I often go to the children’s clothing shop BONTON, Tsutaya Books and Caffé Michelangelo of ASO, in Daikanyama. It is fun to take walks in Omotesando and Aoyama, and there are places for adults to enjoy in Azabu.
