Giorgio Armani supports the new generation of designers “Ujoh”
For the upcoming Milan Women’s Fashion Week, Giorgio Armani will host the Ujoh fashion show at the Armani / Teatro. The initiative to support young creativity hence moves forward, now in its twelfth season.
Ujoh is a brand founded in 2009 by Japanese designer Mitsuru Nishizaki. The brand is distinguished by pieces with a sleek design that combine rich fabrics and a minimalist sartorial approach to bold cuts. In 2015, Mitsuru Nishizaki was a finalist in the Who is on Next Dubai competition.
“I have supported young designers for the past twelve editions, but their enthusiasm, dedication and creativity always continue to surprise me. My desire is to maintain an international perspective: as such, for this season I chose the Japanese brand Ujoh, to which I wish a long and distinguished career”, said Giorgio Armani.
Nishizaki’s comment
“I am truly honoured and deeply grateful for the incredible opportunity to present my collection at Armani Theatre.
I believe that since the creation of my brand, I have continously evolved and refined my creative approach free from any constraints. I aspire to do the same from now on, and I truly believe that this chance will change forever me and my creations.
I am determined to make the most of this unique opportunity and I look forward to the new challenges that the future holds for me.”
In September 2015 Nishizaki was selected as one of the new emerging international designers to take part into the Fashion Hub Market project by Italian Fashion Chamber and received the 9th DHL Designer Award during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Tokyo. He also participated as a finalist to the Who’s on Next DUBAI 2015 competition, sponsored by Vogue ITALY.
