PLASTICTOKYO designer as the winners of the 10th DHL Designer Award

clinches award for promising fashion designers

DHL Express, the world‘s leading international express services provider, today announced Keisuke Imazaki as the winner of the 10th DHL Designer Award during the 2016 A/W Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week TOKYO 2016 A/w.

The winner of this award is selected based on creativity, design and the potential to go global.
The award has helped past winners’ expand their footprint overseas. Winners are selected by DHL, the Official Logistics Partner of MBFWT and Japan Fashion Week Organization (the JFW Organization), from a pool of promising fashion designers, who showcased their collections at the fashion week. DHL will provide the winner with international shipping credits valued at a total of 500,000 JPY, which can be used to ship collection pieces, samples, design material, and other goods internationally.

Keisuke Imazaki, started the PLASTICTOKYO brand since 2012 to present Tokyo’s unique mix-culture to the world. The brand, known for its graphic prints, has successfully established a strong base of fans and supporters. Having participated in Fashion Week Tokyo 2016 S/S show for the first time, Keisuke Imazaki is expected to expand the brand worldwide very soon, with a few overseas business partnerships lined-up, after receiving positive responses from countries overseas at his show.

Imazaki’s comment

I would like to take the opportunity offered by this award to deliver Japan’s mix-culture to the rest of the world.”

 

To showcase Japan’s design talent to the world, DHL Japan has been organizing the DHL Designer Award since 2011. In addition, DHL has also been supporting the global fashion industry since 2014, through the DHL Exported program. A collaboration with IMG, the program aims to help talented designers expand their businesses internationally.

Anne Sofie Madsen, winner of the DHL Exported program, unveiled her collection for the first time at MBFWT, marking her brilliant debut. Also, Atsushi Nakashima, the first Japanese designer selected as a winner for the DHL Exported program, successfully made his first appearance in Milan Fashion Week this season, attracting keen media attention.
