RakutenFWT 2022 S/S | Day 1 Report

Moving up the term approximately one and a half months earlier, today, “Rakuten Fashion Week TOKYO (hereinafter indicated as Rakuten FWT) 2022 S/S” (governing body: the Japan Fashion Week Organization, hereinafter indicated as JFWO), welcomed its first day.

Opening show by “White Mountaineering”, participating for the first time through the by R project (12:00~, physical show)

初“IRENISA” a first-time participant (16:00~, online and presentation at Shibuya Hikarie COURT)

The collection created by 2 former pattern makers, particular about patterns and designs, was introduced by its designer.

The SDGs reporter, “Ms. Neru Nagahama”, makes an appearance at the shows of MIKAGE SHIN and SREU

Ms. Neru Nagahama, the SDGs reporter appointed by Rakuten FWT 2022 S/S, made an appearance at two shows held on the first day. She, who has a high affinity with fashion, appeared wearing items from the collections of both MIKAGE SHIN and SREU.

An event linked to the “Fashion in Japan 1945-2020 – Trends and society” exhibition AREA 3.0 starts at the special event space of the 4th floor of Shibuya PARCO

As its stage utilizing “Shibuya PARCO”, which has been continuously carrying out new incubation projects with the aim to “dig-up and support young designers”, an incubation exhibit by members of “me”, a place of study to overthrow conventional fashion systems and pursuits free creation, led by the designer Mr. Mikio Sakabe, started today. Through their pieces, young creators suggest creations to survive the new era and how fashion should exist in the future.

The ‘Denim Project’, which upcycles 20 tons of <Levi’s® 501®> used stock※Starts today at Shibuya Hikarie

The ‘Denim Project’ starting in April 2021 by Isetan Mitsukoshi, under the hope of their buyers to help solve the social problems which surrounds fashion, while upcycling the splendors of fashion into new shapes and thereby connecting it to a sustainable society. In cooperation with YAMASAWA PRESS, an apparel subcontracting factory located in Adachi-ku which possess approximately 30,000 pairs, 20 tons worth of used-stock jeans, they have been raising supporters regardless of barriers between industries or companies. Co-sponsored by the Japan Fashion Week Organization (JFWO), an exhibit to introduce the efforts of this Denim Project will be presenting a booth for the first time during the “Rakuten Fashion Week TOKYO 2022S/S” term, starting today.
