RakutenFWT 2023 A/W | Day 4 Report

Today, “Rakuten Fashion Week TOKYO (hereinafter indicated as Rakuten FWT) 2023 A/W” (governing body: the Japan Fashion Week Organization, hereinafter indicated as JFWO), welcomed its fourth day.

●The first runway show of day 4 was the award-winning brand of last year’s TOKYO FASHION AWARD, pillings (12:00~).
pillings by designer, Ryota Murakami, presented a runway show at the Official venue of Shibuya Hikarie. In the collection in which he commented, “this season, I wanted to challenge basics”, despite its basic atmosphere at first glance, items with a twist, such as knits using hole, fray and other techniques, pants purposely covered with pills by fulling the cloth, etc. were presented, expressing a unique worldview.

Also worthy of attention is the coordination made possible thanks to shoes provided by the British shoes brand, fitflop.

●Digital presentation by first time participant, “08sircus” (14:00~)
“08sircus” started in the 2010 S/S season at Paris by designer Kiminori Morishita, who, in 2003, launched “kiminori morishita” and after participating in the Tokyo Collection, has been participating at the Paris Collection since 2007.
At the beginning they had been suggesting men’s collections, but from the 2012-13 A/W season, they have been developing women’s collections. This season, he is participating in Tokyo fashion week as 08sircus, for the very first time.

●The SDGs event, “Starting from water and to the earth, the sustainable story that ZERO-TEX will fulfill”
Since the 22 S/S season, JFWO has been transmitting “SDGs that fashion can do” through a variety of projects. Today, being the first day of this event, as an Official event of Rakuten Fashion Week TOKYO 2023 AW, a talk session under the theme of “sustainability and education in the fashion business” took place. The continuance of the well received “RECOMMEND” project from past seasons, in which looks and/or attention gathering points of each brand is introduced directly in recommendation form by fashionistas representing Japan and overseas. In addition, the “MY RUNWAY” project in which the street photographer, mitograph, photographs scenes from shows and snaps of guests at the venue, is also being carried out.
