RakutenFWT 2025 S/S | Day 6 Report
Rakuten Fashion Week TOKYO (Rakuten FWT) 2025 S/S (Organized by Japan Fashion Week Organization (JFWO)) has celebrated the final day of the event. In addition to reporting highlights, this report will also cover runways and events from the previous day.

With the support of the “by R” project to empower the Japanese fashion scene, sulvam held its runway at Rakuten FWT for the first time in three years. The venue chosen was Bunka Fashion College, designer Teppei Fujita’s alma mater. For this particular show, six students participated in the production of three looks.
Three looks that students helped produce
The runways held for industry professionals was preceded by an exclusive runway featuring students from Bunka Fashion College. In a metaphorical “baton pass to the future,” sulvam showing at the place where his journey as a designer began along with students was a full circle moment that touched the hearts of members of the industry and the students who will carry the fashion industry in the future.
The runway commemorating the brand’s 10th anniversary also featured a women’s line that was launched last year. The items were crafted with such neat tailoring, they would make any adult women inspired to wear the looks right away. For the men’s wear, the patterns and styling expressed sulvam’s playful spirit, notable in items such as jackets paired with with aloha shirts, and tops with asymmetrical left and right sides.
Additionally, by R’s products will be available for limited time purchase on the Rakuten Fashion shopping site from 10:00AM on Monday, September 9th. The lineup includes a shirt with a double name tag of the Paris flagship store opening this year, and a belt and wallet chain in collaboration with HTC, a studded belt brand from Los Angeles.

Rakuten FWT 2025 S/S After Party at THE NIKKA WHISKY TOKYO in Omotesando
A VIP-only after-party was held at THE NIKKA WHISKY TOKYO, a limited-time bar. Designers, models, and other guests came to enjoy highballs and various cocktails made with whiskey. THE NIKKA WHISKY TOKYO will be open until December 25th.

10 years of TOKYO FASHION AWARD Talk Event (11:30~)

To close out the final day of the 10 years of TOKYO FASHION AWARD exhibition that had been held at Omotesando Hills Space O for the past week, a talk event with fashion journalist Chizuru Muko and TAAKK designer Takuya Morikawa was held. TAAKK was the honorary award winner of the TOKYO FASHION AWARD previously in 2017.
In the style of an open interview, the two longtime fashion industry professionals discussed TAAKK’s craftsmanship and the future of the Japanese fashion industry.
ssstein has been awarded the FASHION PRIZE OF TOKYO 2025

The FASHION PRIZE OF TOKYO 2025 award-winning designer was announced at the official venue Shibuya Hikarie, Hikarie Hall, Hall B. This year the award winner was announced as none other than Kiichiro Asakawa of “ssstein.” As part of future support for the brand, show events at Paris Fashion Week in January and June 2025 are scheduled to increase international visibility. A triumphant return event at the Rakuten FWT in March is also planned.
In an interview for the award, Mr. Asakawa said, “I am very happy to receive the award at a time when I have been holding exhibitions overseas every season and have been hoping to overcome one or two obstacles. It is a very sobering feeling.” The brand will continue to do its utmost to reach as many people around the world.
Marronnier College of Fashion Design students
runway show held (14:30〜)
Shibuya Hikarie, Hikarie Hall, Hall A
The Marronnier College of Fashion Design, which has now welcomed its 75th anniversary, held a runway event at Shibuya Hikarie, Hikarie Hall, Hall A featuring students of the college.
Twenty-five 2nd to 4th year students each presented one work according to the theme “ART of passion.” The inspiration for the students’ work was also displayed outside the venue, and together with the runway, gave visitors a clear sense of the students’ creative process. The event was also an opportunity for students to be involved in venue management and experience the fashion industry firsthand.
MURRAL (16:00〜)
POLA Aoyama Building
MURRAL held a runway show on the lobby floor of the recently constructed POLA Aoyama Building. The theme for this season was “SEEM.” The inspiration for creating the collection was the question, “Why are flowers beautiful?” MURRAL, who has always incorporated flowers into their creations, surely came upon this idea while reflecting on their own body of work.
The inspiration was the botanical illustrated book “Natural Archetypes in Art,” by German botanist and photographer Karl Blossfeldt. The designer said they found an unbalanced beauty of elegance and strangeness in the flowers depicted in black and white in the book.
Though MURRAL is known for their use of bright colors, this season opened with monochrome looks with just a few pink and green looks inserted as color accents.
The prints, which resembled a marbled pattern, was inspired by motifs from “Natural Archetypes in Art.” In keeping with the theme of “SEEM,” meaning to “look like…”, items that at first glance look like one thing but resemble another was a recurring design element. Examples being satin items that “seem” like leather, and beaded items that “seem” like tangled ivy. The designs were skillfully sublimated into items that were unmistakably MURRAL.
A single flower was placed in the auditorium, begging the audience the question: “Why are flowers beautiful?”
anrealage homme (19:00~) Prince Chichibu Memorial Rugby Stadium
Closing out the 2025 S/S season was anrealage homme. The brand’s second runway was held at the Prince Chichibu Memorial Rugby Stadium. The venue, illuminated in pink, was filled with visitors. Details will be posted at a later date.

In collaboration with this season’s official media partner, Meta, a project between creators and brands that have a strong affinity with fashion is ongoing.
Dancer kei sato “Jenes” (@jenes.dancer) was present on the first day to create a reel video featuring the designer SHINYAKOZUKA, which was posted in collaboration with the official Instagram of Rakuten FWT. Several other brands have been documented and will be posted as they become available.

MY RUNWAY has been “powered up”

MY RUNWAY is a project aimed to convey the charm of Fashion Week by photographing the show, the atmosphere of the venues, and the visitors.
This season three up-and-coming photographers, mitograph, Momo Angela, and Shogo Morishita, will capture the charm of Fashion Week from their unique perspectives by posting their work on the official Rakuten FWT Instagram.
