“by R” Project for 2026 S/S Wednesday, September 3rd 19:00～

by R is Rakuten’s project to elevate Japan’s fashion scene and share its appeal globally. During Rakuten Fashion Week TOKYO, Tokyo’s premier fashion week, which stands alongside those in Paris, Milan, London, and New York, by R supports runway shows for exceptionally talented brands each season. Through dedicated brand shops on Rakuten Fashion, the project spotlights brand excellence and creates new connections between customers and fashion through exclusive items.
Since 2020, by R has championed fashion shows for approximately 16 brands from Japan and abroad, enhancing Tokyo’s fashion community. Harnessing the strengths of the Rakuten Group, the project remains committed to delivering new inspiration and discoveries to the world of fashion.

JFW NEXT BRAND AWARD 2026 Winner “mukcyen” (Yuka Kimura) Runway Show

As the grand prix winner of the JFW NEXT BRAND AWARD 2026, mukcyen—selected through JFWO’s official brand support program—will kick off the season with a runway presentation on the opening day of Fashion Week.

TSUMORI CHISATO to Hold 35th Anniversary Show and Public Event

To celebrate the 35th anniversary of her namesake brand, designer Chisato Tsumori will host a special show titled “35th Anniversary TSUMORI CHISATO ♡♡THANK YOU♡♡♡.”

Haute Mode Hirata to Hold Show Honoring the 100th Anniversary of Designer Akio Hirata’s Birth

To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of legendary Japanese modiste (hat designer) Akio Hirata, Haute Mode Hirata will hold a fashion show where hats take center stage. Three brands will participate: Akio Hirata OHKO, led by Ohko Hirata—Akio Hirata’s eldest daughter and longtime apprentice; H.at, with Akio’s granddaughter Saki Hirata as chief designer; and saki et show, a brand co-led by Saki and her younger brother Sho Hirata. Grounded in a legacy spanning three generations, the show reexamines the meaning and relevance of hats in today’s fashion culture. As a presentation of the continuity and evolution of both technique and artistic sensibility, the event is positioned as a cultural challenge that honors Japan’s hat-making heritage.
