Brand information / About the designer
―What inspired you to become a fashion designer? Describe developments leading up to the brand launch.
I first learned how fun fashion was when I discovered Stussy when I was on the 5th grade at elementary school and I ever since have lived with the initial impact. Growing up with that experience, I found myself working in the fashion industry and having my own brands launched before I even knew it.
―What is the brand’s concept? What do you want to communicate through fashion designing? What are the images of men and women you want to project?
We create our collections strictly following a rule that our collection must be a representation of us and we hope customers would feel my personal data/history through this brand.
―What is your source of inspiration in creating fashion? What is your process of developing a design concept?
It has been a great inspiration that I have always been a big fan and a part of fashion, music and culture since I was very young.
―Who are your current stockists (areas, retail formats, etc.)? Describe the typical followers of your brand.
We work with several stores all over Japan as well as London, US, Taiwan, Shanghai, other parts of China and Korea. We are very grateful to have such great fan base that we share similar passion for fashion with. We consider them as a big part of our team members and do appreciate their tremendous support for the brand.
―Which brands, designers, styles and cultures have had the most impact on your fashion designing, and why?
Without Stussy, nothing would come to reality, including this brand. As for culture, skating and hip-hop culture has always been close to my heart since my early teenage years.
About 2018 A/W collection
―Why have you chosen Tokyo(Amazon Fashion Week TOKYO) as the venue for presenting your collection?
We decided our participation as we hope having a show would help our brand grow and expand more.
―What is the concept / image for your brand’s 2018 A/W season?
rhythmatic
We revisit my early teenage experience of visiting NYC for the first time for 18AW collection. Being in NYC back then, where Supreme had just been launched, and its street scenes heavily influenced me. The very core of my style was seeded in NYC then with its unique skating and hip hop culture in addition to my ongoing passion and love of fashion.
“rhythmatic” comes from an album illmatic by NAS, a rapper based in NYC, released in 1994. This 18AW collection is his new modern days approach towards the recollection of my early teenage years when skating and hip hop was the closest to my heart.
Future
―What are your brand’s future outlook and goal?
