Brand information / About the designer
―What inspired you to become a fashion designer? Describe developments leading up to the brand launch.
Background: When she was a child, she wanted clothes that were not girly, so she requested her grandmother, who worked at a seamstress, to make them for her using her favorite fabrics and designs. She then enrolled in Esmod Japon Tokyo School. After learning about design, patterns, and presentation, she joined Linda Atelier and then moved to STIL Corporation, the company behind YOICHI NAGASAWA. After working on the Paris Collection and corporate projects, she became independent. Since 2013, she have been working as MEGMIURA, and in 2016, she launched my prêt-à-porter line MEGMIURA WARDROBE. In 2016, she launched her ready-to-wear line, MEGMIURA WARDROBE, which she rebranded as MEGMIURA WARDROBE for the 2021 AW season.
―What is the brand’s concept? What do you want to communicate through fashion designing?
“A 360-degree beautiful coat that you can just throw on.
We have reconstructed the standard and proposed a new silhouette that is age- and gender-neutral.
We propose a new silhouette. Genderless, ageless, and body-positive creations.”
―What is your source of inspiration in creating fashion? What is your process of developing a design concept?
Her inspiration comes from movies, music, art and other cultural sources.
―Who are your current stockists (areas, retail formats, etc.)? Describe the typical followers of your brand.
Mainly domestic select stores. Tokyo, Kumamoto, Nagano, etc. (Desperado,Delta,Wut,Permanent Mordan,Noble etc…) In addition, China. Fans of the brand: Gender- and age-neutral fashion lovers.
―Which brands, designers, styles and cultures have had the most impact on your fashion designing, and why?
I am strongly influenced by Dadaism and Surrealism. I am also inspired by the silhouettes and colors of plants and animals, which are contrary to the surrealism.
About 2022 S/S collection
―Why have you chosen Tokyo (Rakuten Fashion Week TOKYO) as the venue for presenting your collection?
After the rebranding, our target has expanded and we wanted to deliver MEGMIURA WARDROBE to various people.
―What is the concept / image for your brand’s 2022 S/S season?
We don’t dare to create a theme for the clothes themselves. It is for genderless, ageless, and body-positive people. This is a proposal for spring and summer outerwear to update your daily life.
―What is your vision for your show / installation?
The theme of the FILM was “From Imbalanced to New Balance”.
Future
―What are your brand’s future outlook and goal?
We hope that our concept of genderless, ageless, and body-positive messages can be conveyed to a variety of people. We hope that by wearing our clothes, we can help people feel uplifted and have the courage to take on new challenges. To this end, we want to make sure that our events and presentations are well organized.

―What does Tokyo represent for you?
“Fun, Nostalgic, Weird” Fun. A place that I miss and will miss when I leave. And weird.
―Which parts / sites of Tokyo do you like most? Why?
Shibuya. Everything is here, and you’ll never get bored.
―What are your favorite / recommended shops (of any genres, e.g. fashion stores, homeware stores, food services), facilities and sites?
“fashion:Desperado,Delta,Wut,Destination,Xanadu tokyo Food and drink:Shibuya Swing,Acalm Chinois. There are many others but I can’t tell you.
Facilities and spots: Yoyogi Park, Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, Opera City Art Gallery”
