Brand information / About the designer
―What inspired you to become a fashion designer? Describe developments leading up to the brand launch.
The biggest infuencer is my family, father and my grand father who are artists. After working experiences in a Japanese designers brand and a global SPA brand, I started my own line TANAKA at NYC.
―What is the brand’s concept? What do you want to communicate through fashion designing?
Clothing that connects the past and next 100 years. Clothing that goes beyond time and gender.
To carry on the legacy of the past. To get rid the borders. Diversity is beautiful.
―What is your source of inspiration in creating fashion? What is your process of developing a design concept?
City, PPl, Culture, Art, Vintage Wear, Factory and Fabric.
―Who are your current stockists (areas, retail formats, etc.)? Describe the typical followers of your brand.
Our main customer in Japan, Europe and North America etc, for all gender who sympathize our philosophy and need high quality daily wear.
―Which brands, designers, styles and cultures have had the most impact on your fashion designing, and why?
Vintage wear, Uniform, ethnic clothe, from 70s to the current all musics, NYC- cultural and racial diversity and Japanese countryside where I grew up.

―Why have you chosen Tokyo (Rakuten Fashion Week TOKYO) as the venue for presenting your collection?
We had an opportunity to join the event as we won Tokyo Fashion Award, also would like more ppl to know TANAKA and our philosophy through the event.
―What is the concept / image for your brand’s 2023 A/W season?
‘’ TO LIVE ” This collection expresses strength, curiosity, and the spirit of an inquiring mind to face forward and survive our current world. It also expresses the beauty and preciousness of human being’s own fleeting, evanescent quality.

―Which parts / sites of Tokyo do you like most? Why?
Nishi Shinjyuku – the skyscraper looks so urban and big city. To me the look is very Tokyo.
