Letter from HRH Princess Reema of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

The Japan Fashion Week Organization (JFWO) held “CREATIVE JAPAN Fashion Fair” in February this year as part of the test marketing project to appeal Japanese fashion to the Saudi Arabian market. The event was highly recognized and turned out a success.
We were able to build ties with HRH Princess Reema of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, who is also the owner of Harvey Nichols Riyadh where the event took place. She was supposed to come to Japan for “Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week TOKYO” to be held this October, but this visit was cancelled due to official duties.
As she was looking forward to her visit to Japan, HRH Princess Reema expressed her regret in a letter to board chairperson of JFWO Masahiko Miyake.
The letter is shown below.

Dear Mr. Miyake

I hope this finds you well and it is with much regret that this letter is drafted. I would like to apologise but, due to an official appointment in Saudi Arabia, I am no longer able to attend the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week TOKYO next month. I was most looking forward to coming to Japan and meeting the teams involved, but this official meeting means I have no choice but to cancel the visit. However I do hope you will allow me to participate in next year’s show instead.

I would be grateful if you could convey my sincere support to all the participants and designers and also my hopes that the event will be a great success.

I would also like to reiterate my desire that the friendship between Japan and The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will continue to grow, and to set out that I am pleased that one of the elements for such friendship can be expressed through fashion and creativity.

Many thanks again for the opportunities and I look forward to communicating again in the near future.

With thanks and kind regards

Reema Bint Bandar Al Saud
