The final event of the second day was a show featuring FETICO by Emi Funayama, which exhibited in a studio at the base of the shining Tokyo Tower. The runway started with the theme title “The Secrets” projected onto the wall, along with imagery resembling the surface of gently swaying water. The opening look for this season was a pairing of tapered pants and a bustier similar to what you might find in a vintage store in Paris. The “muse” who inspired the looks was the African-American supermodel Veronica Webb, who in addition to modeling was also an actress active in the 1980s; she was also known as the muse of Azudin Alaïa, who Funayama dearly admires. Using this base of inspiration, the designer created a modern and more revealing version of the elegant outfits of that era in the style of FETICO.
Atypical for FETICO’s usual color palette, pale pinks and lime greens reminiscent of the 80s were used in the looks. Additionally, the rose pattern and polka dots were pulled as inspiration from the movie “Drowning by Numbers.” The organic cotton denim series produced in Okayama features jacquard denim made with a woven rose pattern. Be sure to keep an eye out for the brand’s first ever sneakers, as well as sunglasses to be produced in collaboration with Japanese eyewear brand, BLANC.

Seivson(16:00~)
Shibuya Hikarie Hikarie Hall Hall A
Following the theme of “TRACES,” Seivsonpresented one of their strongest runways yet. As Seivson welcomes its 7th anniversary, the brand stated that it has made significant strides in manufacturing. The brand’s revealing show of skin, which has always been a forte, was presented in a new way by using crushed fabrics finished with an original process. The brand’s signature outerwear created a unique silhouette through reconstruction, appearing throughout the looks in variations, including the MA-1 and trench coat.
This year, Seivson established a Japanese subsidiary in Kyoto, Japan, and in addition to taking on business in Japan, they will also expand to Paris and other European markets. Materials traditional to Kyoto such as Nishijin brocade used for their outerwear will continue to be a key material for the brand.
MARCUS COVINGTON(17:00~) Shibuya Hikarie Hikarie Hall Hall B
The theme of this season was “SMASH!!!! Show off full-throttle to make everyday serious.” Following the death of the designer’s grandmother, who had always been a mother figure in his life; the confrontation with design and the “intense emotions” that arose from interpersonal relationships were directly reflected in the looks.
Clothing created for the state of “activating your special ability” can be seen as a combat uniform, a protective armor for body and soul. Just wearing these clothes make you feel good. Shiny materials with silver and gold were incorporated throughout the looks to express a variety of intense emotions.
BALMUNG(18:30~)
Image Studio 109 Yotsuya Studio
What appeared in the Yotsuya studio show was a two-story circular stage made of iron pipes, a symbol of the BALMUNG brand. Models of various personalities circled the stage, illuminated by bluish-white fluorescent lights.
Freshly woken-up “sleepy” hair, graphics that seem to fall somewhere between dreams and reality, and music that stirs in your head combined to evoke a feeling as if you were lured into the inner world of someone’s mind.
But leave it to BALMUNG to incorporate an eye opening performance into the show, as the models daringly jumped from the second floor of the stage onto giant cushions.
