Brand information / About the designer
―What inspired you to become a fashion designer? Describe developments leading up to the brand launch.
As a kid in the 80s, I was influenced by the aesthetics and details of classic man elegance thanks to my father, a bespoke tailor from Tarlac, a city in the Northern Philippines where I grew up until I was a teenager. I then moved to Italy with the dream to pursue a career in fashion. After 20 years in the fashion industry in Milan working for well-known fashion brands, I felt the need to express my own style and aesthetics. I moved back to my homeland and launched my own clothing line.
―What is the brand’s concept? What do you want to communicate through fashion designing? What are the images of men and women you want to project?
A continuous dialogue between fashion, art and architecture. A creative tension between the sophisticated and the primitive. Aesthetics are essential to any outfit, but comfort and utility should be just as important. That’s what distinguish every Ottomondi ensemble or piece of clothing that wears our label.
―What is your source of inspiration in creating fashion? What is your process of developing a design concept?
I get inspired by architecture, fine arts and by my travels in general. I’m obsessed with simplified forms, rational and functional shapes, different perspectives of beauty and details.
―Who are your current stockists (areas, retail formats, etc.)? Describe the typical followers of your brand.
POP UP Stores, followers discover us through social media
―Which brands, designers, styles and cultures have had the most impact on your fashion designing, and why?
I was mostly impacted by the brands I worked for and the countries where I lived.
About 2019 S/S collection
―Why have you chosen Tokyo(Amazon Fashion Week TOKYO) as the venue for presenting your collection?
I was given the chance to present at AmazonFWT thanks to BENCH/ Design Awards.
―What is the concept / image for your brand’s 2019 S/S season?
These are warriors sporting utilitarian outfits, whose silhouettes have been influenced by the ancient battle gear of the Samurai. Panels and patchwork bring to mind a soldier’s body armor.
―What is your vision for your show / installation?
The collection derives inspiration from the image of a cavalcade of modern warriors trooping down the mystical karst mountains of Yangshuo County in Guilin, China.

I want OTTOMONDI to become a strong brand present in multi-label stores in key cities around the world.
