Brand information / About the designer

―What inspired you to become a fashion designer? Describe developments leading up to the brand launch.

Instead of focusing on trends, I more focus on the clothing itself and how it can interact with the body when I was a fashion student. I like to discover interesting things in ordinary daily life. Sometimes we have the problem of forgetting to zip our trousers and this creates some awkward moments in our lives, I was wondering why no one had created a product that would solve this problem, which is why I decided to establish Wilsonkaki and create pants with a magnetic auto fly. My design is inspired by everyday life and i want to make the everyday wardrobe more user-friendly and stylish at the same time.

―What is the brand’s concept? What do you want to communicate through fashion designing?

“Wilsonkaki is a clothing brand that explores the ordinary everyday life and reveals people’s social behaviour, to challenge our preconceptions about normality.
Wilsonkaki is skilled in using visual elements to transform ideas into unique styles, through exploration of reconstruction, interpreting the everyday wardrobe with a hyper-modernity approach.”

―What is your source of inspiration in creating fashion? What is your process of developing a design concept?

We draw inspiration from the trivial things in our daily life, and we want to create more products that connect with people and our living habits.

―Who are your current stockists (areas, retail formats, etc.)? Describe the typical followers of your brand.

Wilsonkaki.com is the main sales platform accessible to customers worldwide.

―Which brands, designers, styles and cultures have had the most impact on your fashion designing, and why?

We researched a lot of uniforms and streetwear, and we reconstruct the garments, to make them better, stylish, and fit for nowadays people’s needs.

About 2024 S/S collection

―Why have you chosen Tokyo (Rakuten Fashion Week TOKYO) as the venue for presenting your collection?

The Asian market is our focus, and i think Tokyo is the main fashion hub in Asia, and many people will be eyes on Tokyo fashion week, and I think it gives more chance of exposure to let people know .

―What is the concept / image for your brand’s 2024 S/S season?

Wilsonkaki Collection 001(SS24) collection is inspired by the creases or traces of life on the people’s clothes. We want to explore the relationship and interaction between our daily activities and clothing, we will use the everyday wardrobe as a prototype, such as T-shirts, pants, workwear jackets, jeans, etc., and apply some inertial actions in our lives to clothes, such as walking and sitting down. The pressure we encounter in life is like sitting down and pressing on the clothes. We use this idea to make some random pleats in different ways to symbolize the invisible pressure and busyness in our life, expressing a mood of busy life.

―What is your vision for your show / installation?

The concept of the show is to repeat ordinary life, the show will be performed in a hybrid format, which combines catwalks and acting, and the models will repeat some actions again and again.
