RakutenFWT 2022 A/W | Day 5 Report
“Rakuten Fashion Week TOKYO (hereinafter indicated as Rakuten FWT) 2022 A/W” (governing body: the Japan Fashion Week Organization, hereinafter indicated as JFWO), welcomed its fifth day.
● pillings(12:00～ Physical presentation)
pillings, one of the award-winning brands of TOKYO FASHION AWARD, presented a show at the Official venue of Shibuya Hikarie. This season, under the theme of “dream and reality”, choosing a “piano” as a metaphor to symbolize society, hanging it upside-down over the stage and under it, presented their runway, symbolizing “dream”, thereby expressing the beauty of people living in between dream and reality. Furthermore, presented were unique designs such as “ant” motifs to symbolize sociability, insect specimens, etc.
● mintdesigns(18:00～ Online presentation along with a press event at Shibuya Hikarie, COURT)
mintdesigns by designers Mr. Hokuto Ktsui / Ms. Nao Yagi, welcoming a renewed beginning in its 21st year, developed a collection created not from structure, but rather, a method of forming from abstract images, using sculptures of Noguchi Isamu as an image source, under the theme, “NEW FORM”. Getting ideas for patterns from surface texture of Noguchi Isamu’s works and atelier wall, ushint watercolor paintings and paint to express in abstract graphic.
● malamute 19:00～ Physical presentation
malamute, one of the award-winning brands of TOKYO FASHION AWARD, presented a show at the Official venue of Shibuya Hikarie. This time, conscious of expressing strength in styling, a knit collection full of details usually used in textile such as fasteners, buttons, etc., was presented.
●Digital presentation by the first-time participant, Goldwin Zero
Goldwin, a sports apparel manufacturer with a 70-year history since establishment, gave a digital presentation of their new project, “Goldwin Zero”, started by welcoming designers Julia Rodowicz and Jean-Luc Ambridge, along with “OK-RM”, a London based design studio for creative direction. The objective of this project is to learn from somatic sensations brought upon from sports, to construct a future with the image of people living as one with nature, through cooperation of creators of various fields, such as apparel, visual, music, space, etc.
●The “DIGITAL VOICE” project utilizing fashionistas and influencers being carried out
In continuance from last season, being updated daily are street snaps, a project in which a colorful lineup of people embodying the “now of fashion”, such as actresses/actors, models, creators, etc., wear items of participating brands, under the theme, “STREET RUNWAY”. Also, please take notice of “DIGITAL VOICE RECOMMENDATION” in which, highlights and noteworthy items of brands presenting their collection this season are being recommended by fashion journalists, editors, buyers active both nationally and internationally.
