A women’s brand from Shanghai created by Yueqi Qi, who gained experience at Chanel’s embroidery atelier. This season followed the theme of “GILDED SPEED” and was inspired by fences, rattan furniture and athleisure. This marked the brand’s second time participating in Rakuten FWT, and its popularity in Japan was evident as fans wearing the brand’s items rushed to the event.

Clothing featuring the brand’s iconic character for “love” decoratively embellished in lace, as well as decorative pieces that combined folklore with street style were just a few of the many garments that struck a chord with the younger attendees. On the runway, the brand presented collaborative wear with Adidas, including a lingerie-like camisole and a lacy track jacket. The footwear adorned included a remake of the Adidas SL72, and the new UGG collaboration boots set to release on October 15th.

HEōS (14:00~) Shibuya Hikarie, Hikarie Hall, Hall A

HEōS by Shoma Akatsukigawa presented a fragile yet strong and beautiful runway inspired by the theme of “Nightmare.” The collection focused on the horrors of war and the sadness of children, but also on the small light found in the midst of it all. Garments featured started white but transitioned into colors such as pink, green, and blue blended together, seeming to symbolize the feeling of a chaotic nightmare. As the show reached its final looks, beautiful graphics depicted on translucent materials were combined with black as if it show the resolution of the dream.

The very first look featured Toyomi Jah’mira, the daughter of nationally and internationally acclaimed rapper Awich.

VIVIANO (15:30~) Count Ogasawara Residence

VIVIANO filled the Count Ogasawara residence with serene elegance according to the theme of “My Garden.” The collection was like beautiful blooming flowers. Rose motifs were scattered throughout, as well as colors of petals represented in pinks and reds; branch and leaf colors such as moss green, khaki, and mint green were also incorporated throughout the garments. The season felt like being transported to a secret garden that VIVIANO had lovingly tended to.

While the brand maintained their classic character in items that used a more dramatic design sense with layers of tulle and original jacquard fabric dresses; the VIVIANO-style masculine looks were also impressive, such as a tailored coordinated set and a vest-style pantsuit. Their newly launched men’s line has been attracting a lot of attention from the public since releasing this year.

Designer Viviano Sue’s creations certainly captured his ideology that growing plants is not unlike the process of creating clothes. Viviano’s designs are always filled with a love for the clothing and the wearer.

Chika Kisada chose “Intoxication”as the theme for her collection, a word that could be mean “captivating” or even “addicting.” The strong word choice was evidenced in the collection through use of the color red, a symbolic color of “many shades,” that stirred the emotions of the audience. All of the models’ lips were painted the same crimson red, and the color was incorporated throughout the looks on footwear and even bags. Pale pinks, as if an afterimage of the crimson, were also incorporated in a striking manner.

This season’s lineup took shape from the concept of movement created by people and objects, as well as their afterimages, a concept that was represented in tailored jackets that changed expression with movement. Conversely, bustiers and other items deformed as if to preserve the human form were featured as well.

The collaboration bag with Eastpak that was presented last season made an appearance in the key color crimson.

The last runway of the day was by sulvam (byR)(19:00〜) Bunka Fashion College, Endo Memorial Hall

Through the support of the “by R” project to empower the Japanese fashion scene, sulvam held its first runway at Rakuten FWT for the first time in three years. The venue chosen was Bunka Fashion College, the alma mater of designer Teppei Fujita.

ROKOBUEN was created by Yuko Mukai, a designer who studied under Kansai Yamamoto and incorporates the values of Japanese culture, tradition, and kimono into his designs, in partnership with Daisuke Adachi, a former model with a critical eye for what makes the wearer look most attractive.

This season’s looks sought to go “back to the basics” and were inspired by the Japanese character “纏 (MATOI)” .The brand presented three main articles: items using kimono fabrics and traditional Japanese patterns, denim that is processed by hand by the designers, and “kimono dresses” that are tailored by incorporating the concept of kimono in the modern world. Accessories such as bags and shoes utilizing Nishijin brocade to evoke a sense of Japanese aesthetics were carefully crafted as well.
