RakutenFWT 2024 A/W | Day 3 Report

“Rakuten Fashion Week TOKYO(Rakuten FWT)2024 A/W” (governing body: the Japan Fashion Week Organization (JFWO)),
welcomed its third day, today.

Last night (March 12th), the triumphant return event of the TOKYO FASHION AWARD 2024 award-winning brand, “Kota Gushiken”, was held at the Official venue of Shibuya Hikarie, Hikarie Hall A.

This being their first time to participate in Rakuten Fashion Week TOKYO, under their wish to “have people enjoy the collection as if watching one’s favorite live show or movie, rather than in the form of a conventional runway show”, they introduced their latest collection through a talk show by comedian/writer, Mr. Naoki Matayoshi, and entertainer, Mr. Masao Yoshii, on a stage exhibiting many archive items.

VIVIANO” (20:30~)

Also on this day (March 12th), VIVIANO, (TOKYO FASHION AWARDThey presented this last show of the second day at “Geihinkan” of Grand Prince Hotel Takanawa. Under the theme of “What’s New?”, a collection expressing scenery in the designer’s mind’s eye from his youth was presented.

tanakadaisuke” (12:00~)

Day 3 (March 13th) started off with a triumphant return event by TOKYO FASHION AWARD 2024 award-winning brand,tanakadaisuke. On a runway encompassed in a fantastic mood with sequins raining upon it, presented was a collection of impressive colors, such as a bright red European-like jacket, mixed in with basic tones such as off-white and gray, along with pale tones such as pink.

YOHEI OHNO” (13:30~)

YOHEI OHNO” (TOKYO FASHION AWARD 2017 award-winning brand), presented their show at Sen-oku Hakukokan Museum in Roppongi. Under the theme of “Classics for mature adults” and appointing models of a wide range of age groups, constructive and unique dresses, coats were presented, along with accessories filled with playfulness, such as handbags made of body-part motifs.

MIKAGE SHIN” (16:00~)

The theme designated by the designer was “GAME CHANGER”. She says, this theme is not one that concludes in one season, but rather, one she has designated as a life-long “proposition” which will continue as long as the brand exists. Welcoming the brand’s 4th year, with the wish of “breaking away from the brand’s shell”, the designer showed more bold combinations of materials with different natures, mixing in vivid graphics here and there, thereby presenting a bold collection while utilizing sensitive techniques.

FETICO” (17:30~)

“FETICO”, the award-winning brand of the very first Grand Prix of JFW NEXT BRAND AWARD in 2023, a brand support program hosted by JFWO, along with the TOKYO FASHION AWARD in the same year, participated in Rakuten FWT again, consecutively, this season. This season, under inspiration sources that are exclusionary yet have firm unique styles and/or worldviews, such as Wednesday Adams of the movie, ‘Adams Family’, or the Broadway version of ‘Dracula’ by the American picture book author, Edward Gorey, presented was a collection created with the wish to become “someone’s ‘Eternal Favorite’”.

JFW NEXT BRAND AWARD 2024 Grand Prix winning brand “KANAKO SAKAI” (19:00~)

KANAKO SAKAI” Grind Prix winner of the JFWO hosted brand support program, “JFW NEXT BRAND AWARD 2024”, presented a show this season again consecutively, at the Official venue of Shibuya Hikari, Hikarie Hall A. This season, with corn bras, leather shorts cut out in heart shapes, etc., “femininity” aspects, which the designer herself has been avoiding all her life, were boldly expressed. Compared to last season which was an introduction of the brand, by facing “femininity” which she had always avoided, this season was a show expressing the designer’s inner self.

During the term, at Official venues, “DASSAI” and DASSAI Sparkling by Asahi Shuzo, Official Sponsor of Rakuten FWT, is being handed out and enjoyed by guests. In addition, other items are being handed out, including beverages such as Red Bull, Gaivota water, and samples of “melt”, a new hair care product by Kao suggesting “beautification by resting”.
