RakutenFWT 2024 A/W | Day 4 Report

“Rakuten Fashion Week TOKYO (Rakuten FWT) 2024 A/W” (governing body: the Japan Fashion Week Organization (JFWO)), welcomed its fourth day, today.

PHOTOCOPIEU” (12:00~)

Today, the fourth day of the term, started off with a triumphant return event by TOKYO FASHION AWARD 2024 award-winning brand, “PHOTOCOPIEU”.
Their exhibition style installation was presented at the Official venue of Shibuya Hikarie, Hikarie Hall A.
Being moved by how AINO, wife of ALVA AALTO, the great Scandinavian design master, supported him throughout his life, the installation was presented under the theme of “Love towards things that are easily overlooked”. Guests admired the collection leisurely, while wandering around the venue.

Press conference held by “TRANOÏ” (13:00~)

The prestigious European fashion joint exhibition, “TRANOÏ” (Paris Fashion Week Official Tradeshow Partner), has under a partnership with JFWO, and will be advancing into Tokyo as TRANOÏ TOKYO. Their first exhibition in Tokyo has been determined to be held on September 4th, 5th, 2024, and a press conference announcement of this was made today.
Approximately 150 national and international brands are scheduled to participate, and because these dates coincide with the term of Rakuten Fashion Week TOKYO 2025 S/S, Bellesalle Shibuya First has been chosen as the venue to allow for good access in linking the two events.

AKIKOAOKI” (17:00~)・ “MURRAL” (18:00~)・“MIKIO SAKABE (20:30~) Presented shows in link with the opening event of “Tokyo Creative Salon”

AKIKOAOKI 24 AW

In link with the opening event of “Tokyo Creative Salon”, a festival of fashion and design, open to all, “AKIKOAOKI” (TOKYO FASHION AWARD 2023), “MURRAL”, and “MIKIO SAKABE”, presented their collections at the Yoyogi 1st Gymnasium.
Based on shirts and tailored jackets which are the “uniforms” of people living in modern day society, AKIKOAOKI, presented a feminine collection with sexuality, with impressive use of drapes and lace.

At a venue with an impressionably white space, MURRAL, presented a collection of bold needle work and/or silhouettes under the theme of “WITH”, incorporating grayish colors this season.

Queen&Jack” (19:00~)

Presented was a school-style collection inspired by the things the designer saw and felt when stopping by at Matera, a world heritage town in southern Italy, during a business trip.
Personality/artist 「Ourin」, made an appearance on the runway as a model.

At 8F of Shibuya Hikarie “ONWARD Upcycle Action Project” and “Algorithm-Formed Kimono”, starts today

ONWARD Upcycle Action Project

An event utilizing collected own-product denims, an exhibit/sales-by- order of upcycle items planned/produced through free inspirations, making good use of both Onward’s power of creation and production skills, started today.
At the venues, upcycled items by guest creators, Naoki Matsuda of nisai Shun Ishizawa of Maison Shun Ishizawa, and HARU, were displayed. A wide array of one-of-a-kind pieces, including, kids, men’s, lady’s items, to small articles, are being exhibited.

Algorithm-Formed Kimono

The 1st exhibit installation of “Sync Fabric Studio”, suggesting the desirable situation in which Fabric should exist in modern day society, is being held at Shibuya Hikarie, 8F, 8/CUBE, starting from today.
In cooperation with KORI-SHOW PROJECT (hosted by Sota Yamaguchi) and the Tokyo National Museum, being displayed are “kimono designs” of the Edo period have been mechanically studied by generative AI, to create innovative graphics, along with a “futuristic haori (short Japanese overgarment) created through a zero rejection rate printed pattern, derived upon from focusing on the “no waste structure” of kimonos.
