KEIKO NISHIYAMA is a textile-led fashion brand that focuses on the ways nature has been transformed by human intervention, such as gardens, botanical gardens, and cultivated species. Taking inspiration from their beauty and subtle sense of strangeness, the brand creates imaginary flora and fauna as original textile designs. Combining a perspective rooted in natural history with a sense of romance, KEIKO NISHIYAMA reconstructs “uncategorized imaginary species” that do not exist in the natural world into original textiles. Drawing inspiration from celestial charts, botanical illustrations, and Japanese painting, each garment is created as a piece of wearable art. The brand values Japanese craftsmanship, materials, and production techniques. Through delicate printing, embroidery, and lace expressions, KEIKO NISHIYAMA proposes fashion that brings a sense of discovery and emotional uplift to everyday life. By wearing and collecting the pieces, one’s wardrobe begins to form a personal museum. KEIKO NISHIYAMA creates experiences that allow the wearer to rediscover their own sensibility and aesthetic values through clothing. In recent years, the brand has also developed projects that cross the boundaries between fashion and interiors, including a collaboration with the French interior brand ligne roset.

Keiko Nishiyama
Textile and fashion designer. Keiko Nishiyama moved to the United Kingdom in 2011 and studied textile design at London College of Fashion. During her time in London, her distinctive textile expressions gained recognition and were featured in both British and Japanese fashion media. Following her selection for a young designer support program, she presented her collections in London and Paris. Since then, she has been developing her own brand, KEIKO NISHIYAMA, with original textiles at its core, expanding her practice both in Japan and internationally. Inspired by gardens, botanical gardens, cultivated species, and the ways in which nature has been transformed by human intervention, Nishiyama continues to draw imaginary flora and fauna through a lens of natural history and romance. She reconstructs “uncategorized imaginary species” that do not exist in the natural world as original textiles, developing them into fashion and spatial expressions. In recent years, she has continued to expand beyond the boundaries of fashion through collaborations and textile projects with companies such as FitFlop and H TOKYO, as well as a collaboration with the French interior brand ligne roset.
In 2020, RYOTAMURAKAMI was renamed to “pillings” to mark the beginning of a new chapter. With the concept of “expressing the affection for craftsmanship and its background through creativity,” the brand presents collections centered on hand-knit items in collaboration with Japanese hand-knitting artisans. Through fashion, the brand aims to innovate hand-knitting techniques and create an environment where these skills can be passed on to the next generation—this is also one of the brand’s key missions.
